Our History
In 1990 Sandy Schneider was actively involved in the formulation of energy policy in the State of Florida as an attorney/consultant to the private power industry. When it became clear that Florida’s main impetus was to encourage more energy conservation he formed ConServ Energy Technologies, Inc. in order to provide demand-side management and energy conservation services to the state’s largest commercial, industrial and institutional energy users. ConServ’s first major project was Barry University in Miami Shores. We entered into a ten-year “shared savings” agreement with the university and modified and/or replaced eight thousand lighting units and had installed a state-of-the-art energy management system. Barry University was the first major institution to receive a financial incentive from Florida Power & Light Company under its fledgling Commercial/Industrial Lighting Incentive Program.

Following that success, ConServ Energy completed projects in many different types of facilities, including school districts (Dade and Broward); airports (Palm Beach International); universities (Florida Institute of Technology; Florida State University; Clearwater Christian College); country clubs (Boca Pointe; Gleneagles; Polo Club; Fort Lauderdale CC; Woodlands; Boca Teeca); private schools (Zion Lutheran; Hope Lutheran; Advent Lutheran; Boca Raton Christian; Our Lady of Lourdes Academy); and a number of warehouse-distribution and manufacturing facilities.

In 2001 Sandy Schneider and Jim Hairston formed S&H Energy Services in order to provide full electrical contracting and energy conservation services to our customers. Many of our projects were done on behalf of national energy service companies including Johnson Controls, Inc., Chevron Energy Solutions, Ameresco and others. In these projects, S&H was the electrical subcontractor responsible for lighting, lighting controls, energy management system controls installation, and installation of variable-speed drives, motor controls, and all work associated with energizing energy efficient upgrades.

Of particular note, during the ten year history of S&H was the installation of lighting and lighting controls in over 100 department stores (Macy’s and Bloomingdales); Northwood Centre in Tallahassee; 44 elementary, middle and high schools in Broward County, Florida; along with energy auditing services on behalf of Johnson Controls for the Puerto Rico Building Authority; Sandals Resorts; and Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood Airport.

In 2009 S&H Energy Services was retained to replace all of the street lighting in a residential section of Weston Hills and subsequently its main roads with a new, technologically advanced LED array.  The result was better and more uniform light and a reduction of energy usage of approximately 75%.  This was the FIRST major LED street lighting replacement in the southeast and has proven to be an important first step in reducing energy consumed by street lighting.  We continue to strive to be one of Florida 's most innovative and creative energy conservation companies and have been invited to appear before a number of homeowner associations and condominium boards to demonstrate this new and exciting lighting technology.  We would welcome the opportunity to meet with your association to demonstrate how we can retrofit your street lighting.
